When I was sent word of the GSPR requirements, it was long before any tariff talk was happening.
I was heartbroken because there have been readers in European countries buying my series. I use an American printer that does not have any contacts in Europe, so getting a representative for my books was nil (I thought). Many authors use Ingram, BookVault, and other overseas printers. I searched and could not find a one that offered leather and so I had to tell my readers in Europe that I couldn’t offer my leather editions to them any longer.
I have since contacted a program that for a fee (more with the exhange rate) who will help me set it all up and be a rep for me. I’ve tossed the idea around, and I’m going to do it. I want to please my readers and what can be worse than enjoying a series and getting cut off? I’m asking George Martin fans here.
It’s not cheap, and it has me squeaking a little because hey, it’s not just the US imposing new restrictions on trade betweeen our countries, some of ya’ll politicians started this…
So soon I will have my leather edition of Darkness Holds the Son and more available in Europe. Give me a few days to set it up. And what’s more, I’m going to offer the European limited edition signed and numbered beginning with #EU 1 even though that Kickstarter has ended. So if you’d like one and you live in one of those countries, let me know and I will get one to you. I’m setting the limited edition count to 30.
Also for anyone anywhere - if you are interested in my leather and special editions and don’t do Kickstarter, I can accomodate!
In other news, the screenplay adaption to my book An Unconventional Mr. Peadlebody has been winning some awards in the film festival circuit, the most exciting is, it’s a finalist (with more judging coming) in the Cannes World Wide Film Festival. So I’m excited about that.
Have a great week!
