Hot Summer Days
I spent a lot of years in Arizona, and lived in Arizona "hotspots" which were really the hotspots of the US. 120 degrees wasn't unusual and I remember mentioning how glad I was when it cooled down to 100. Also whenever a little puff of cloud went in front of the sun you breathed a sigh of relief!
Here in the Pacific Northwest people come out of their winter holes with their eyes closed, like moles, wondering what that fireball in the sky is. And when they see it for more than one day at a time they shudder in fear. If the sun shines on them for three days, every one is talking about the drought!
I like the sun. I was fortunate to live in Arizona to learn how to deal with hot days.
Drink lots of liquid. (In Arizona it was beer but I've learned that water is wetter.)
Wear a hat. Probably the reason there are so many crazies running around in the summer time is because they're all sun-stroked.
Know when it's SIESTA time! Yes, that's right. Slow down. You can't live like a mad Seattle-ite on hot days. One thing I loved about Arizona was the pace of life. Do your work early in the morning or all night long. The afternoons are for sleeping, resting in the shade, having a cold ice tea or lemonade and chillin'.
Lay down next to your speakers, turn up your favorite tunes (back then it was Santana, Jimi Hendrix, or Bob Marley) and close your eyes, man every thing's gonna be all right.
