“As long as my generation is still alive, strong, and worthy of respect, we will honor our ancient tradition.”
I have a deep respect for cultures and ethnicity. I always wished I had some teachings in the fabric art and culinary art of my Hungarian ancestors. How lovely it would be to know the dances, the violin music, and the horsemanship of the people I came from! Because of this inner yearning, I have a deep respect for all native cultures.
In Another Man’s Storm, the Telwa people live high on a mountain in a village barely reachable by the people of the lower plains. The travel would be so difficult for the lowlanders, that the Telwa seldom get visitors, and they are fine with that. They are self sufficient and have, as a people, learned the best way s to get along with each other through their customs and way of life. They are guardians of the mountain, and as we begin the story, there are two Telwa individuals who can ride the pair of dragons who live there.
That’s not to say there isn’t strife, and that the old ways aren’t diminishing. In fact, the culture has already been criticized by the younger people. But when confronted with a challenge by one young individual, the elder dragon-rider very bluntly states, in this quote, that as long as he is alive, tradition will be the Telwa’s foundation.
It is my hope that this dedication is not forgotten on our world. That we will always have the beautiful individuality that lies in the ethnic traditions throughout the world.
Chapter 2 will be available on Friday’s Fantasies.
At the moment, the story will be free. But as I continue to write and edit, it will be available for paid subscribers. I’m not sure when that will happen. Probably as things get more involved and I have a clearer mind of the direction of the story, if it will be a series or not. I hope you enjoy what I’m doing so far.
In the meantime, take a peek at some of my published works. Ian’s Realm is now available as an eBook bundle.
And some more goodies from Fourth Wall.
I made and bought this sweatshirt because I can never find a hoodie that zips in front and I hate sliding them on and off over my head. I love it!
