Life is Complicated

I wonder if it's our fault.

The time has come when my husband and I are looking at estate planning. I know. We should have done this a long time ago. Denial always plays a factor when you admit you won’t be on this earth forever. Still, we have to give ourselves a little kudos to finally coming around.

I don’t think the reason we procrastinated so long is because we don’t want to think our lives will end. We all have that in common. But rather because we’d rather avoid all the work needed to get everything in order to best benefit our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Yes, the family is growing!

It will entail a great deal of paperwork and math…that dreaded subject. I might have to go out to the garage and count how many prints I have of a painting I did 20 years ago. Or are they going to make me itemize the drawings, paints, CDs, costumes, and what-nots in the studio? Will I have to record the number of books in my inventory?

Good grief I might have to hire someone to do all of that.

This is not my forte. I would much rather just send the kids a final goodbye email and say “come get what you want, have a yard sale with what’s left!”

When the family does end up rummaging through the garage, they’ll find most of the stuff belongs to them anyway. Items that represent every move they made. Including pets, I’m afraid. We have been storing their stuff for years.

This all came about because of a seminar we were invited to yesterday. We’re on the trail of no return…off to the Silver Shores, as Galadrial would say.

FYI, I’m not planning on sailing away any time soon…but one never knows what adventures await when you step out your door.

I do hope to finish what I’m doing. I have seedlings to plant, another Kickstarter coming up, events I’m in charge of facilitating this year, and more stories to write.

Enjoy your weekend.
