Making the World Beautiful
The benefit of kindness
Crazy times we’re seeing right now but if you look back through history, we aren’t facing anything our ancestors haven’t faced. War, civil unrest, men and women competing with each other for places of power. Seems to be a pattern from ancient Greece to world wide revolutions, to the Ottomans to Vietnam and world wars. When I was little I used to think mankind once lived on Mars, destroyed it, and came here to start over again.
There is hope, you know. We could all just start being kind to each other. If we want to affect the world around us we need to start at home. There’s no other way. My mom used to tell me the first step in peace is to make your bed in the morning. I learned later that washing the dishes at night gave me a fresh start for a new day.
If you want to see a smile, give a smile. If you want to have a friend, then be a friend.
And what better way to be a friend, then to help a friend, even if they don’t ask for it, or seem to need it. We only have our immediate world around us. We can choose to add to the violence, or we can be a retreat, a place of repose.
There’s a company I buy from whose motto is “Making the world beautiful one rose at a time.”
Brings tears to my eyes when I think that motto could be applied to more than just the flower. Contemplating on a rose certainly brings a special kind of joy and peace in my life, but if we all stood in the place of a rose, if we all became that one thing that made the world beautiful, how much better off would we all be?
There are so many injustices that happen in this world. We can fight to change them and we should. But in our own way. I was told one time not to fight the enemy with the enemy’s weapons. There’s a more powerful weapon with which to combat evil. I think most of us know what that is. It’s difficult but oh so necessary because if someone doesn’t shine a light, we’ll all be in darkness.
Have a quiet and peaceful weekend!
And take a look at Lavender Lass’s new campaign. She’s putting some delicious cookbooks together that go with her stories.
How is the campaign going? Quite well. We funded in 6 minutes and the first day reached our first stretch goal. This will be the short story I’ve been telling you about.
We’re on our way to the next goal, which will be another story for Dragons of Ashenvale as well as the high res map that John Renehan made us.
