Have you ever not liked your characters?
I was about to quit with Another Man’s Storm. I posted a few Work In Progress chapters and then stopped because I needed to change things. I got to 20,000 word and the other night I was ready to trash the whole story because I simply did not like Malosi and I figured readers wouldn’t either. Of course, he had a character arc to where readers would eventually feel better about him, but I thought as is the story just won’t attract people. If they’re anything like me, they’d put the book down and not pick it up again.
Hence my new plan.
Since Another Man’s Storm is a spin off to the Cho Nisi world, I decided to bring in some characters that I do like. And that’s what I’ve done.
Maurice, son to Arell and Erika of Cho Nisi, is a young man now, so a few years have passed since The Keeper, book 5. Without giving away too much, the story opens with Maurice and King Barin assigning him the role of ambassador of the Allatope Isles. Seems there’s been a little misunderstanding developing in the northern part of the Nisi Sea over the years.
Dai and Malosi continue their travels from the Telwa mountains, but we’re going to be more concerned with Maurice and Ala’s advenutres and how they all meet up.
Darkness Holds the Son’s (book 4) limited edition Kickstarter campaign will be launched early next month, but the book is available on my website in paperback and eBook now.
I wish I could tell you more but spoilers are a pain. I’d love to know who is reading the series so that we could talk about it.
But without giving anything away, I wanted to let you know there will be a book 6 spin off novel coming hopefully this year.
Thanks for following!
