I am extremely fortunate to live around other authors. I belong to 2 marketing groups, one which just promoted me to events planner! Yay more work. *smile. This was one major reason I refused to go to meetings, because you always get volunteered and the last one was no exception. It’s fine. I have experience facilitating events and I know how to delegate!
The first event this year so far is a pirate event. If you’re in the area of Western WA, come by Kingston on June 7. The Greater Gig Harbor Literary Society will have our booth there and we’re not only selling books, we’re dressing up as pirates (It’s a requirement). So AHOY!
I have to admit, summer events are a bread and butter for my family. I do better selling paperbacks at events than eBooks online. It seems fantasy lovers are also paperback and hardcover book lovers. Which I am as well.
If you’re an independent author and don’t do events, I encourage you to find some other authors to go in with, get yourselves a tent and pool your resources to set up and tell the world in person about your books. It’s the best kind of promotion you can do!
And don’t forget about Kickstarter either! The Keeper is coming soon.
Have a great rest of the week. New story for paid subscribers on Friday!
