He's one of those friends that you not only admire, but who is fun to be around and who has the utmost respect for you and is there to help. DL Fowler, whom I call Larry because his name is in those initials somewhere, is also known as The Lincoln Guy by the entire city he lives in. He's flooded the market there and now has to travel abroad to sell because I don't think there's a historical fiction reader in all of Gig Harbor who doesn't own at least one of his books.
Larry has researched his subject to the point of knowing Abraham Lincoln's every thought. Seriously! The hours he has spent knowing not only the Civil War President, but the man’s friends and family so intimately that he can talk about them for hours. The cool thing about his knowledge and bringing it to light, is that there is so much we can learn from this historical icon.
His books have won prestigious awards and rightly so.
They are not just a historical record told in a way that gives the reader insight, but mirrors some of the political and social issues we're experiencing today. There's wisdom in these books and it would be for all our benefit to pay attention.
Now Larry has invented a card game that passes along some of this wisdom that you and I can share with each other. He calls it Wisdom for the Ages: the Abraham Lincoln Conversation Deck
A Micro Game with a clear purpose — it makes the statement that history matters and says we can have fun growing wiser with friends. I can't wait to get my deck. You should check out his Kickstarter campaign. It's quite innovative!
While you’re looking for a book to read this summer, and you enjoy fantasy, here are some amazing stories you might want to include!
Late pledges are still available on The Keeper’s campaign, even though the campaign is technically over. I’ll be keeping these up until the first week in June, so if you want these special editions with the stretch goals, act fast. Some of the swag is only available with this campaign.
Have a great week. We’ve finished the Friday short stories of Maurice the Dragon Rider and though I started a new one, it’s not ready to share so I’m taking a brief hiatus from the paid subscription short stories, but I might have some behind the scenes ready for you this week if you’re a paid subscriber.
Thank you for reading!
